To mark the end of the moving exhibition ‘Charter Flight into the Past,’ the Mitte Museum cordially invites you to the closing event – a final look back at five decades of memories, encounters and returns.

The event will begin with a curator’s tour, during which Martina Voigt will provide deeper insights into the exhibition and its history. This will be followed by a screening of documentary filmmaker Thomas Hartwig’s film Begegnung mit der alten Heimat (Encounter with the Old Homeland, 1979, approx. 36 min), a rare contemporary testimony that gives the invited guests themselves a chance to speak. The evening will conclude with a discussion between Thomas Hartwig, Martina Voigt, Christian Krüger (head of the Senate programme, Senate Chancellery) and Nathan Friedenberg (director of the Mitte Museum) – and with the audience – about the programme’s relevance today.
