QR codes (“Quick Response Code”) are square barcodes, similar to the barcodes on packaging. They can be used to transfer a variety of information from the user to a smartphone or tablet, provided that it has an appropriate reading app (most smartphones no longer require separate reading apps as the smartphone’s camera app will automatically recognise the QR code).

Simply capture the QR code with your mobile phone camera. The camera should then suggest a link to the website with information.

The codes are embedded in floor tiles, e.g. at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. At other locations, they are depicted by means of additional signs on already existing street signs with a short information text.

Citizens can submit proposals for streets to be renamed to the responsible road construction authority. Proposals for street names are free of charge.
