An Exhibition by Beatrice Moumdjian.
Moumdjian’s artistic practice combines autobiographical research with a critical perspective on history and its modes of transmission. Her work reveals how closely personal life stories are intertwined with political and historical processes, and how these entanglements can be examined, shifted, and rearticulated through artistic means.

Drawing on her remaining family photographs—150 images in total—she translates isolated photographic motifs into three-dimensional objects, which are newly arranged in outdoor and exhibition spaces and then re-staged photographically. Removed from their original context, these motifs lose their representative function and transform into autonomous carriers of meaning and forms of evidence situated between personal memory and historical reconstruction.

Beatrice Moumdjian’s work traces connections from the Armenian genocide through exile in Bulgaria to migration to East Berlin in the 1990s, linking biography with geopolitics.
