How can criticism of the museum be effectively channelled within the institution itself? What role do museums play as venues for democratic participation?
Drawing on the recently published anthology Das radikaldemokratische Museum revisited (Baur/Sternfeld, transcript 2026), Joachim Baur examines current challenges facing curatorial practice – from the ‘culture war’ waged by the right to the importance of critical mediation in publicly funded cultural institutions.
Following the lecture, Joachim Baur will speak with Olga Schubert about the future of the museum as a democratic space and invite the audience to join the discussion.
