Open Call for Galerie Nord’s exhibition organisation
As part of the further development of the gallery location at Turmstraße 75 in Moabit, the Department of Art, Culture and History is conducting an expression of interest procedure for the exhibition operation of part of the exhibition space there.
For over 30 years, Galerie Nord at Turmstraße 75 – previously known as Obere Galerie am Lützowplatz – has offered young artists in particular the opportunity to meet a wide audience without being obliged to commercialise their work. The building complex in the Brüder-Grimm-Haus is already used by various district institutions and independent organisations, including the Volkshochschule Mitte adult education centre, the Fanny Hensel Music School and various social counselling centres. Thanks to its versatile use and central location, the listed Brothers Grimm House is an important focal point for the entire Moabit neighbourhood. In addition, the location is very easy to reach by public transport and, with its large window front, offers an attractive location for the presentation of contemporary art. The gallery rooms are located on the ground floor and offer ground-level and barrier-free access to the exhibition space.
As part of the further development of Galerie Nord at Turmstraße 75, the Department of Art, Culture and History is conducting an expression of interest procedure for the exhibition operation of part of the exhibition space of Galerie Nord (see Annex 1 Floor plan of the space to be allocated). The other section is used by the Department of Art, Culture and History as the communal project space ‘Studio Nord’ (AT) at Turmstraße 75.
The main aim of this tender is to make the artistic programme of the gallery location inclusive and diverse. Galerie Nord’s connection to the local art and culture scene is just as important as its supra-regional and international networking and positioning. In this way, current artistic developments can be presented in the Moabit district and at the same time impulses for the mediation of art and cultural education as well as networking in the building and in the neighbourhood can be given.
The object of the funding is the free provision of exhibition space and additional functional rooms in the Brüder-Grimm-Haus at Turmstraße 75, 10551 Berlin (approx. 207 m² with corresponding functional rooms; the exact details on the use of the space and its size can be found in Annex 1) as well as project funding of €60,500 gross for the year 2026, which is to be used for exhibition operations in these premises. The tender is subject to the release of the budget funds. The premises will be handed over on 01.03.2026.
